Features: Come join in the celebration of garden founder Henry Shaw's birthday as we highlight his life and legacy. This bike ride will use portions of the Bike St. Louis route from the Garden to Tower Grove Park where you will explore the features and attractions of this National Historic Landmark. Vietnam Veterans Memorial coming to Hecker Labor Day Weekend
The village of Hecker, Illinois is hosting the Moving Wall Memorial Aug. 28 - Sept. 1
This movable Wall is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial standing in Washington, D.C. The Daughters of the American Revolution will be assisting visitors in finding names and providing rubbing materials. There will be three ceremonies so many citizens can learn about the Memorial - all will be held at the Hecker Community Center.
The opening ceremony will be held Thursday, August 28, at 6:00 p.m.
On Sunday, August 31 at 6:00 p.m., there will be the dedication program.
Monday, September 1, Labor Day, 6:00 p.m. will be the closing ceremony after which the Wall will move to another state.

The annual Popeye's Picnic is always held the first weekend following Labor Day. This year's event will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Popeye starting on Friday afternoon and features plenty of food, music, dancing, sporting events and other contests, a parade is held on Saturday morning and a sizeable fireworks display is the finale on Sunday evening. The event is centered around the downtown area of Chester, but activities are held throughout the town.
